BREATHE & WEAVE is a gentle gathering that blends mindfulness practices such as weaving, breathwork, and meditation, in a relaxed, supportive, community setting.
WEAVING PRACTICE:
@thread_and_connect
This ‘Intro to Weaving' session will be led by textile designer Doreen, and multidisciplinary artist Shirley. Both have a shared love of helping the community through creativity with recycled & natural materials, and reminding others of how to create healthy time away from digital screens using craft - as well as it being a joyful way to connect with others!
Together we will explore how to use card looms and recycled yarn to create colourful hangings or coasters - you get to choose ;)
Suitable for complete beginners.
The materials we will use would otherwise be destined for landfill, so we’ll be ‘feeding two birds with one scone’ by creating beautiful pieces and helping the planet at the same time!
*Please note that because the materials are bits and bobs lovingly salvaged from various projects and places, the recycled yarn may contain a mix of cotton, wool, and other natural fibres. If you have a preferred material you’d rather work with, you are welcome to bring your own yarn, or get in touch to discuss what materials would be more suitable for you and we’ll see what we can do!
BREATHWORK AND MEDITATION PRACTICE:
Led by Sara; trauma-informed yoga teacher, breathwork coach, meditation guide, cacao facilitator, and the founder of FIGS (see below for more info about the FIGS community!).
During this event, Sara will be offering grounding practices to help the group lean into presence, relaxation, openness and connection.
The opening breathwork will be aimed at relaxing the body, regulating the nervous system, and bringing everyone into coherence, whilst the closing meditation will bring the event to a reflective and grounded end, bringing a deep sense of gratitude for the time we’ve shared exploring our self-expression and connecting in community (in real life and away from screens!), as well as leaving everyone feeling quietly joyful with hearts gently full.
Suitable for complete beginners.
