WHEN & WHERE:

Saturday 30th August

LEWES TO BRIGHTON

Meeting options:

  • COMING FROM LONDON WATERLOO: You can meet Nadine inside London Waterloo Station, by the toilets, at 9:30am. Together, you will get the 9:42am train from London Waterloo to Clapham Junction, then change at Clapham Junction for the 10:01am train to Lewes (arriving at 10:56am).

  • COMING FROM CLAPHAM JUNCTION: Get to Clapham Junction around 9:45am and find the correct platform for the 10:01am train from Clapham Junction to Lewes (arriving in Lewes at 10:56am). Nadine will be on this train with the rest of the group coming from London Waterloo.

  • MEETING AT LEWES: You can meet Sara and Jamie at Lewes anytime between 10:45-10:55am. We will start the hike at 11am.

RETURN TICKET: Please note that we will be starting and ending the hike in two different locations - this means you can either:

  • Get an open return ticket from Lewes back to London Waterloo / Clapham Junction (or whichever station you came from), and then buy an additional ticket from Brighton to Lewes (it’s only 14 minutes and is a direct train).

  • Buy a single outbound ticket to Lewes (from your chosen train station), and a single inbound ticket back from Brighton (to your chosen train station). This is probably the easiest and most cost-effective option, but please check, as it depends on where you are coming from.

Either way, please make sure your return ticket is open / flexible, as we won’t know for sure how long the hike will take, as it depends on the pace of the group on the day. Please also factor in some time to explore Brighton after the hike to make the most of your day! You might want to chill by the seaside, explore the pier, or have dinner in one of the restaurants before making your journey home.

Hike Details:

  • Walking from LEWES to BRIGHTON

  • Distance: Approx. 18km

  • Difficulty: Moderate – steady pace, a few hills, and mostly open terrain

  • Approximately 5-6hrs, this includes a lunch break, and some stops for mini mindfulness practices along the way.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable trainers or hiking boots (good grip recommended)

  • Light layers and a rain jacket — the weather can change along the coast

  • 1L of water

  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and bug spray

  • A bag / container in case we come across some fruits to forage along the way

  • Snacks (optional) - we will aim to have lunch around 1pm-1:30pm but it depends on the pace of the group and where we are on the hike route, so if this feels a little late for lunch for you feel free to bring a snack.
